K2 Base Camp Trek (Baltoro Glacier)

Standing at Concordia and seeing K2 (8,611m), Broad Peak and the Gasherbrum peaks all at once is one of the most profound experiences on Earth. This is the world's most spectacular trek, not technically difficult, but long, remote and wild. The Baltoro Glacier is 63km of ice, rock and jaw-dropping mountain scenery.

Trek Itinerary

Days 1-2, Skardu to Askole

4x4 jeep drive from Skardu to Askole (7 hrs), the last village accessible by road. Trek briefing and final preparations.

Day 3, Askole to Jhola

Trek begins along the Braldu River. Gradual terrain through poplar and willow groves. Camp at Jhola (3,140m).

Day 4, Jhola to Paiju

Walk through Payo glacier moraine to beautiful Paiju Camp (3,430m). First views of Paiju Peak and Trango Towers.

Days 5-6, Paiju Rest & Liligo

Rest day at Paiju. Day 6: Walk the lateral moraine onto the Baltoro Glacier, one of the longest glaciers outside polar regions. Camp at Liligo (3,500m).

Day 7, Liligo to Khoburtse

Continue along the glacier with Trango Towers and Cathedral Peaks dominating the skyline. Camp at Khoburtse (3,900m).

Day 8, Khoburtse to Urdukas

Trek to Urdukas (4,050m), the last patch of green on the glacier. Extraordinary panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.

Days 9-10, Urdukas to Goro II & Concordia

Two days across the upper glacier to Concordia (4,600m), the meeting point of the Baltoro and Godwin-Austen glaciers. K2, Broad Peak and all four Gasherbrums visible at once.

Day 11, K2 Base Camp

Trek to K2 Base Camp (5,100m). Stand beneath the world's second-highest mountain. A day to remember forever.

Days 12-18, Return to Skardu

Retrace the route back through Concordia, Urdukas, Paiju and Askole. Jeep back to Skardu. Celebration dinner.

Questions

You need good cardiovascular fitness. You should be able to walk 6-8 hours daily on uneven terrain for 18 days. No technical climbing skills required, but prior high-altitude experience (3,000m+) is strongly recommended.
A trekking permit is required (USD 100-200 depending on nationality). We arrange everything, you just need your passport.
