The Baltoro Glacier is the highway into the heart of the Karakoram, a 62km river of ice flanked by some of the tallest, most dramatic peaks on Earth. This trek follows the full glacier route from Askole to Concordia and back, giving trekkers who want the classic Baltoro experience without necessarily continuing to K2 Base Camp or over Gondogoro La a complete, self contained itinerary.
Trek Itinerary
Days 1 to 2, Skardu to Askole
Drive via Shigar to Askole, the last road connected village and expedition starting point.
Days 3 to 4, Askole to Paiju
Trek along the Braldu River valley to Paiju, the last campsite with trees before the glacier proper.
Days 5 to 7, Onto the Glacier, Khoburtse to Urdukas to Goro II
Cross onto the Baltoro Glacier itself, camping at Urdukas (famous for Trango Tower views) and continuing to Goro II.
Days 8 to 9, Concordia
Reach Concordia, the amphitheatre where K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I and II are all visible together, widely considered one of the greatest mountain views on Earth.
Days 10 to 14, Return to Askole
Retrace the glacier route back to Askole, drive to Skardu.
