Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1, Fly to Gilgit, drive to Hunza
Morning flight from Islamabad with Nanga Parbat views, then a 2.5 hour drive up the Karakoram Highway to Karimabad. Evening at leisure in the old town.
Day 2, Karimabad & Baltit Fort
Baltit Fort above the terraces, Altit Fort and its restored royal garden, and the Karimabad bazaar. An easy first full day at altitude.
Day 3, Eagle's Nest & Upper Hunza
Pre dawn drive to Duikar for sunrise on Rakaposhi and Golden Peak. Afternoon at Attabad Lake, Passu Cones and the Hussaini suspension bridge.
Day 4, Nagar Valley & Hopper
Cross to Nagar for the Hopper glacier viewpoint and the quieter side of the valley, then back to Karimabad for a final evening.
Day 5, Drive to Gilgit, fly out
Morning drive to Gilgit for the flight to Islamabad. Airport transfer and tour ends.

For Hunza specifically, yes, flying to Gilgit rather than driving the full KKH buys you three clear days in the valley. It is not enough to add Skardu; if you want both, our 10 day combined itinerary is the honest minimum.
Gilgit flights are weather dependent. On a five day trip there is no buffer, so we are upfront about this: if the flight cancels we switch to the road, which costs you a day each way. Travellers on tight schedules should consider adding a buffer day.
