Wazir Khan Mosque, Lahore's Most Ornately Tiled Mosque

Wazir Khan Mosque, completed in 1641 within Lahore's Walled City, is renowned for its extensive Kashi kari tile work and frescoes, considered by many architectural historians the most ornately decorated Mughal era mosque in Pakistan.

History

Built during the reign of Shah Jahan and named for Hakim Ilmuddin Ansari (known as Wazir Khan), a governor of Lahore, the mosque's elaborate tile and fresco work represents the high point of Mughal decorative mosque architecture in the city.
