Qissa Khwani Bazaar, The 'Storytellers' Market'

Qissa Khwani Bazaar, literally "Storytellers' Market", was historically a resting point for camel caravans on the trade routes between South and Central Asia, where merchants and travelers would gather to exchange news and stories. Today it's Peshawar's beating commercial heart, packed with copper and brassware shops, dry fruit stalls and some of the best open flame karahi in Pakistan.

History

The bazaar takes its name from its centuries old role as a caravan stop where traders told stories over tea and food, a tradition tied to Peshawar's position on ancient trade routes linking the Indian subcontinent to Central Asia and beyond.
