Overview

Manthoka Waterfall is one of the most striking natural sights in the Khaplu Valley, water plunges roughly 180 feet down a stepped rock face into the Shyok Valley below, fed by glacier melt from the surrounding Karakoram peaks. A wooden viewing platform and small footbridges let visitors get close to the spray without a difficult hike.

It sits a short drive beyond Khaplu town, making it an easy add-on to a Khaplu Valley itinerary or a standalone half-day trip from Skardu for travelers with more time. Small tea stalls near the base make it a popular picnic and rest stop along the Shyok River road.
