Kartarpur Corridor & Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Sikhism's Holiest Site in Pakistan

The Kartarpur Corridor connects the India Pakistan border directly to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, the site where Guru Nanak, founder of Sikhism, spent his final years and passed away in 1539. It's the holiest Sikh pilgrimage site in Pakistan, and the corridor built in 2019 now allows Indian Sikh pilgrims visa free access for the day, alongside international visitors on standard tourist arrangements.

Often combined with Nankana Sahib (Guru Nanak's birthplace) and Panja Sahib in Hasan Abdal, forming a complete Sikh heritage circuit across Punjab.

History

Gurdwara Darbar Sahib marks the place where Guru Nanak established a farming community and lived out his final 18 years, passing away here in 1539. The Kartarpur Corridor, opened in November 2019, was a landmark bilateral agreement allowing visa free access for Indian pilgrims to visit for the day, a rare moment of cross border cooperation.
