Overview
Hingol National Park along the Makran Coastal Highway is Pakistan's largest national park, protecting a surreal landscape of mud volcanoes, dramatic rock formations (including the "Prince of Hope" natural rock sculpture) and coastal desert. It's home to Sindh ibex, chinkara gazelle and Marsh crocodiles in the Hingol River.
History
The park was established in 1988 to protect the coastal desert ecosystem of the Makran region, and later gained wider attention as the Makran Coastal Highway made this remote stretch of Balochistan accessible to travelers from Karachi for the first time.
