Basho Valley, Pine Forest & Alpine Meadow Escape

Basho Valley is a forested side valley roughly an hour's drive from Skardu, climbing from pine woodland into open alpine meadows fed by a fast flowing glacial stream. Unlike Deosai's vast open plateau, Basho feels enclosed and intimate, tall pines, wildflower dotted grass and small waterfalls along the trail.

It's a popular half day or overnight escape for travelers who want a quieter, greener alternative to the more crowded lakes around Skardu. Camping is possible in the upper meadows in summer, and the valley is also used as a starting point for some local trekking routes.
