Badshahi Mosque was built in 1673 by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and remained the largest mosque in the world for over 300 years. Its red sandstone courtyard can hold tens of thousands of worshippers, and the view from its steps across to Lahore Fort at sunset is one of the defining images of the city.
