Gilgit Baltistan is Pakistan's mountain heartland, home to five of the world's fourteen 8,000m peaks, including K2 (8,611m), the second highest mountain on Earth. It spans the meeting point of the Karakoram, Himalaya and Hindu Kush ranges, with turquoise glacial lakes, the world's second highest plateau at Deosai, and centuries old forts from a string of former princely states. It's our flagship region and the most developed for tourism of anywhere in northern Pakistan.
