History

Kumrat remained largely unknown to mainstream tourism until relatively recently, historically used by local Kohistani communities for forestry and seasonal grazing, before word-of-mouth and social media turned it into one of KPK's fastest-growing destinations over the past decade.

Geography

A remote valley in Upper Dir at the northern edge of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following the Panjkora River through dense pine forest up toward high meadows including Jahaz Banda and Katora Lake.

Culture

Home to Kohistani and Gujjar communities with a strong forestry and herding tradition, largely unchanged by tourism compared to more developed valleys like Swat.

🌦 Weather & Best Time to Visit

Cool even in summer thanks to dense forest cover and altitude; snowbound in winter with limited access.
