Flying: A roughly 1 hour flight, one of the world's most scenic scheduled routes given views of Nanga Parbat en route, weather dependent, so build in buffer days either side.
Driving: An 18 to 20 hour road journey via the Karakoram Highway, typically split across 2 days, a serious but rewarding alternative if flights are unavailable or you specifically want the road experience.
Typical itinerary length: 5 to 7 days covers Deosai, Shangrila and the core Skardu highlights well; 10+ days allows for Shigar, Khaplu and deeper exploration.
