The Princess of Hope, along the Makran Coastal Highway within Hingol National Park, is one of Balochistan's most photographed natural formations, entirely shaped by wind erosion over an unknown span of time.
The name's origin: The formation gained its evocative name after actress Angelina Jolie noticed it during a 2004 UN goodwill visit to Pakistan, the resemblance to a woman gazing into the distance struck visitors enough that the name stuck permanently.
What makes it geologically interesting: Formed purely through wind erosion of the surrounding sedimentary rock, the Princess of Hope reflects the same natural processes responsible for Hingol's other dramatic formations, including the nearby Balochistan Sphinx.
Getting there: A stop directly along the Makran Coastal Highway, roughly 4 hours from Karachi, typically combined with Hingol's mud volcanoes and Kund Malir beach on the same day trip.
Best time to visit: November through February, avoiding the Makran coast's intense summer heat.
