Pakistan's reputation as a mountaineering paradise goes well beyond its five famous 8,000m peaks, the country is home to 108 peaks above 7,000 metres, per Wikipedia's comprehensive list of Pakistani mountains, concentrated overwhelmingly in the Karakoram range.

Where these peaks sit: The vast majority lie within the Karakoram, which runs almost entirely through Gilgit-Baltistan, considered by many the single densest cluster of extremely high peaks anywhere on Earth. A smaller number sit within the Himalayan and Hindu Kush ranges further south and west.

Beyond the count, over 4,500 peaks above 6,000m: The scale becomes even more striking when you consider Pakistan also holds over 4,500 peaks above 6,000 metres, with no complete count even attempted for peaks above 5,000m or 4,000m given how numerous they become.

Well-known 7,000m peaks worth knowing: Spantik, Chogolisa, Haramosh, Latok, Masherbrum and the Gasherbrum IV and V peaks are among the more famous 7,000m-class mountains, each drawing dedicated mountaineering attention distinct from the 8,000m giants that get most public recognition.

Why this matters for travelers, not just climbers: Even non-climbers benefit from this concentration, the sheer density of high peaks is what gives destinations like Hunza, Skardu and the Baltoro region their singular, almost overwhelming scenic drama, visible from valley floors without any climbing at all.

Over 7,000 glaciers: This mountain density also gives Pakistan more glaciers than anywhere on Earth outside the polar regions, a rare natural feature tied directly to this same concentration of extreme elevation.
