Winter (December February) closes off much of the high altitude north but opens up a different side of Pakistan elsewhere.
Murree and the Galiyat (including Nathiagali): This is peak snow tourism season, genuine snowfall, winter sports and a completely different character from these hill stations' summer identity.
Deep northern mountains (Skardu, Hunza, Deosai): Largely closed or severely limited, Deosai is inaccessible, and Skardu/Hunza sightseeing continues but in a cold, snow affected form very different from peak season.
Plains and cities: This is the most comfortable season for Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi and Multan, the best window for heritage sightseeing without summer heat.
Hunza Winter Festival: A genuine winter specific cultural event in Karimabad, offering a quieter, community focused alternative to Hunza's busy summer season.
