Not every worthwhile experience in Pakistan costs money, here's a genuine list of free activities across the country.

Islamabad: Margalla Hills trails, Faisal Mosque's exterior and grounds, and simply walking the F-6/F-7 markaz areas cost nothing beyond your own time.

Lahore: Walking the Walled City's streets and bazaars (beyond any paid monument entries), watching the Wagah Border ceremony crowd atmosphere from the general viewing areas.

Northern valleys: Simply walking through Karimabad or Skardu Bazaar, watching sunset from any of the free roadside viewpoints (Eagle's Nest access itself is generally free, though transport there isn't), and observing local daily life in smaller villages.

Religious sites: Most mosques, gurdwaras and shrines don't charge entry, though donations are welcomed and langar (community meals) at Sikh gurdwaras are offered freely to all visitors.

See our Pakistan Travel Cost guide for how to budget the parts of your trip that do cost money.
