Beyond standard city sightseeing, Karachi's Arabian Sea coastline offers a different way to experience the city, from short sunset cruises to full-day island excursions.

Sunset cruises: Shorter boat trips departing from Karachi's harbour areas offer a relaxed evening on the water, watching the sun set over the Arabian Sea, a popular, low-commitment activity for a Karachi evening.

Churna Island day trips: The standard full-day boat excursion, typically departing early morning from a pickup point in the city, driving to Mubarak Village, then boating out to Churna Island for snorkeling, cliff diving and a beach lunch before returning by evening.

What a typical Churna trip includes: Life jackets and safety briefing, snorkeling equipment, a speedboat crossing (roughly 40-45 minutes each way), and often a barbecue-style lunch on the boat or at the island.

Private cruise charters: For groups or special occasions, private boat charters offer more flexibility than the standard shared-boat Churna trips, at a correspondingly higher cost.

Practical timing: October through March offers the calmest seas and most comfortable conditions for any boat-based activity, summer's rougher water and heat make it a considerably less pleasant experience.

See our Scuba Diving in Pakistan guide for the diving-specific version of these same boat trips, or our Karachi destination guide for the wider city itinerary.
