Both April blossom and October autumn colour turn Hunza into a photographer's dream, but they're different experiences, not just different colours on the same trip.
Cherry and apricot blossom (April): A narrow, unpredictable window, timing shifts year to year with spring temperatures, and we track conditions closely to advise the best week once you have rough dates. The blossom itself is spectacular but short lived, and some facilities aren't fully open this early in the season. This is our highest demand period alongside peak summer, book 6 to 8 weeks ahead.
Autumn foliage (October): A longer, more reliable window than blossom timing, golden poplar and apricot leaves rather than pink and white flowers, set against clearer autumn skies. Facilities are fully operational (unlike early April), and crowds are noticeably thinner than either blossom season or peak summer.
Which photographs better? a matter of taste, blossom gives softer, pastel tones with a shorter shooting window each day; autumn gives richer golds and more consistent all day light. Neither is objectively superior.
The honest recommendation: If you can only book one and reliability matters, choose autumn, the timing risk is much lower. If blossom is specifically what you're after and you can build in flexible dates, April remains worth the timing gamble.
