Broad Peak, at 8,051m, is the 12th-highest mountain in the world, overshadowed by its immediate neighbour K2, but a significant peak in its own right.

Why "Broad Peak": The mountain earned its name from its notably wide summit ridge, roughly 1.5km across, a distinctive feature visible from Concordia and much of the surrounding Baltoro region.

Location relative to K2: Broad Peak sits close to K2 within the same Baltoro Muztagh cluster, meaning trekkers heading to K2 Base Camp naturally pass within viewing distance, and dedicated Broad Peak Base Camp treks follow much of the same approach route.

Trekking to Broad Peak Base Camp: A roughly 16-day itinerary from Skardu via Askole and the standard Baltoro Glacier approach, reaching a base camp altitude of approximately 4,900m, serious trekking, comparable in demand to K2 Base Camp itself.

Climbing history: First summited in 1957 by an Austrian expedition, Broad Peak is sometimes considered a slightly less technically extreme 8,000m objective than K2, though still a serious high-altitude mountaineering undertaking.

See our Broad Peak Base Camp Trek package, or our Four 8,000m Base Camps Trek for combining it with K2 and both Gasherbrums.
