The drive itself: Roughly 2 to 2.5 hours from Naran, climbing steadily through increasingly stark, high altitude terrain before cresting the pass with sweeping views in multiple directions.
Seasonal access: Generally open June through September/October, heavy winter snow closes the pass for much of the rest of the year, so this is strictly a summer season excursion.
Lulusar Lake en route: The drive passes directly by Lulusar Lake, the source of the Kunhar River, a natural and unmissable stop along the way rather than a separate detour.
Continuing to Chilas: For travelers connecting onward to Gilgit Baltistan, Babusar Pass offers an alternative summer route to the standard KKH via Besham approach, though road conditions should be confirmed before relying on it.
